JUNE 8, 1997 - Eight cautions & a red flag slowed Chuck Roumell on his way to his 2nd straight win on the AC Delco/Murray's Iceman Series Sunday night at Toledo Speedway.
Roumell's victory tonight was almost a rerun of race #1 at Tri City. The Onsted, Michigan driver inherited the top spot when Scott Baker who had led from the start, crashed on lap 38 while passing a slowed car. For the next 62 laps Roumell was under constant pressure from Glenn Gault, who was never able to get by Roumell's Wynn's/RJS/Five Star Monte Carlo. Eight years have passed (9/17/89) since Chuck won 2 races in a row.
A frightening accident brought out the red flag on lap 56 when Dennis Strickland & Sean Sholtis, came together, driver's door to driver's door, with tremendous force. After a short period both drivers emerged from their vehicles apparently unhurt. Sholtis later was transported to the hospital with back & neck pains. After Being checked over he was released with a bruised back.
