LAS VEGAS - Late-model stock car driver David Quartaro has been suspended from Las Vegas Motor Speedway for one year, it was announced Wednesday by speedway officials.

Quartaro was suspended for violating rules 2 and 3 in the speedway's rulebook during Saturday night's Star Nursey.com Late Model Classic at The Bullring at LVMS.

LVMS Rule 2 states, "Fighting, rough driving and other acts of violence will not be tolerated. Penalties will be issued based on the severity of the incident including, but not limited to, fines, suspension and probation."

LVMS Rule 3 states, "LVMS will not tolerate profanity or discourteous gestures in front of fans or race officials."

Quartaro had been competing in 2000 after having been placed on probation in November 1999 for violating speedway rules.

"This action became necessary due to Mr. Quartaro's actions during our event Saturday night, Nov. 4," said David Stetzer, LVMS' director of short-track events. "Las Vegas Motor Speedway will not tolerate actions that are detrimental to auto racing and to the fans."
