Matt Prieur Resigns Effective Immediately from the ASA Late Model Series!

Ovid, Michigan (Wednesday, July 16, 2008): Effective immediately, Matt Prieur, who has served as the Director of Media and Public Relations and Public Address Announcer with the ASA Late Model Series since the 2005 racing season, has resigned!

"The owners of the series have strayed away from the original concept and ideas that made the series so successful, that is until recently." Prieur explained. "In good conscience and to protect my reputation and preserve my dignity, I can no longer support a concept I no longer believe in!"

"I'm looking ahead to the 2009 racing season and what better time than now?" He ccontinued. "I'm going to explore other options within the industry and see what's out there."

"It's just like a driver wanting to better themselves and move up the ranks, officials are the same way and I look forward to the new challenges I will face in the near future." He added.

For the immediate future, Prieur will still maintain his Public Relations business, M.P.H. Promotions and will honor all existing client obligations for the remainder of the 2008 racing season!

After working two events under the original USPRO Cup Series in 2003 and one event in 2004 under the ASA Late Model Series banner, Prieur was offered the chance to serve as Master of Ceremonies for the 2004 ASALMS Awards Banquet.

Soon after that awards banquet, Prieur, originally from Flint, Michigan and now calls Ovid, Michigan home along-with his Wife of over 2 1/2 years, Elaine, was hired full-time as the Director of Media / Public Relations and P.A. Announcer beginning with the 2005 racing season.

Over his tenure with the ASALMS, Prieur was the series Webmaster maintaining all three ASALMS websites with duties including news content, driver profiles, points, race previews, race recaps, photo galleries, posting team press releases, race event information, entry forms, entries, and historical information.

In addition to his Public Announcing duties on race day, the 33-year-old (Soon to be 34 on July 24, 2008) also set-up the tower on race days by getting the computer equipment and transponder scoring system up to par with each tracks' individual requirements.

Once the tower was complete, the 19-year Announcing veteran would then conduct all Drivers, Crew Chiefs, and Spotters Meetings while also serving a role in Tech with regards to Decals and Patches that teams were required to have. In addition, conducting all Pre-Race Ceremony activity with regards to dignitaries and V.I.P.'s before Driver Introductions.

In addition to those numerous tasks, he also was instrumental in providing the "ASALMS LIVE" Feature with race day updates from each facility throughout each and every race weekend for those fans who couldn't make it out to an event.

The "ASALMS LIVE" feature was complete with Practice, Qualifying, and Race Results from every race weekend along-with Photos from former ASALMS Photographer, the late Bob Milner, and continuing on with current ASALMS Photographer, Chuck Gonzalez.

"Every weekend was very busy and very long. But it was really a lot of fun until recently." Prieur continued. "Some things have happened within the organization in the past few months that I just don't agree with, especially the politics behind the scenes. People in the industry would cringe and shake their heads in disbelief if even a 1/4 of that stuff were to be made public."

As for Prieur's company, M.P.H. Promotions was founded in June of 2005 and specializes in marketing and the promotional aspects of short track auto racing teams throughout North America. M.P.H., saw a need for promoting the drivers of the present and the aspiring talents of the future in the short track motorsports community.

"One of the hardest things for a race team to do is secure that major sponsor. Without proper media and public relations, no one knows who you are or what you've accomplished now or in the past." Prieur added.

"It's one thing to get some companies logo on your race car for "x" amount of dollars, while it's entirely another thing to convince that business to write a check with a lot of zeros in it. That's where good P.R. comes in." He ended.
