Budds Creek, Md. - The regular racing action at Potomac Speedway took the first of two weeks off in honor of the NASCAR Winston Cup racing action in Richmond, Va. this Saturday. The Silver Hill Lion's Club sponsored Demolition Derby took to the track for its first of two shows in-a-row.
The regular racing action will return on Saturday September 22nd for the last points race of the season. Pit gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with racing starting at 7:00 p.m.
The following Saturday, September 29th, there will be a 100-lap Cliff's Heating and Air Conditioning Enduro/Hobby Stock feature along with the Chesapeake Web Design Bombers. The rules are open to all tracks. As a special treat, there will be participant drags in which race fans can take their own personal cars out on the track to compete in a half-track race. Along with the participant drags, there will also be a roll-over contest.
The season ending Southern Maryland Nationals will follow the 100-lap enduro feature on October 5rh and 6th. Qualifying will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night for a 40-lap $1,500 to win Coors Light Pure-Street Stock feature, along with a 30-lap $800 to win Bell Motor Company Late Model feature, and a 25-lap $500 to win Potomac Speedway Four-Cylinder feature. Along with the qualifying action, there will be Bomber and Classic Car features. The pure-street, late model, and four-cylinder features will be ran on Saturday night beginning at 6:00 p.m. Also on the schedule for Saturday, are the Little Lincoln Cars and Classic Cars.
