Budds Creek, Md., -- Potomac Speedway is getting set to kick off the 2002 racing season. The season will begin with the annual car show to be held in the lot across from the Farmer's Market in Charlotte Hall, Md., on Saturday March 16th beginning at 12 noon and ending at 4 p.m.

Cars from six different divisions of racing will be on display and will be competing for the best appearing car awards with a trophy going to the winner. The car show gives these cars a chance to really shine before the effects of racing action set in.

Following the car show, there will be an open practice session for all divisions at the track on Sunday, March 17th beginning at 2 p.m. Gates open at noon and grandstand admission is free. Drivers will have a chance to test their cars, go through inspection, and get acclimated with the three-eighth mile oval.

Opening night is set for the following Saturday, March 23rd. The Budweiser Super Late Models will compete for 55 laps and $2,000 in the Bobby Allen Memorial sponsored ITSI event. The Bell Motor Company Limited Late Models, the Coors Light Pure-Street Stocks, the Four-Cylinders, the Enduro/Hobby Stocks, and the Chesapeake Web Design Bombers will be on hand for the first of many exciting nights of racing action. Pit gates will open at 4:300 p.m. with grandstand admission at 5:00 p.m. and racing starting at 6:00 p.m.
