Potomac Speedway drivers off for Demolition Derby.
Budds Creek, Md. -- The dirt track drivers had the week off as the Silver Hill Lions Club sponsored Demolition Derby took to the track at Potomac Speedway. The racing action will resume this Saturday, June 8th for the fourth I.T.S.I. Budweiser Super Late Model series feature, the 40-lap $2000 to win Cody Endicott Memorial, along with the regular show.
The track will be switching to the summer time schedule with pit and grandstand gates opening at 5:30 p.m., and racing starting at 7 p.m. verses 6 p.m. The summer time schedule makes for better conditions for the track, and fans, drivers, and crews enjoy cooler temperatures in the stands.
Defending I.T.S.I. points champion Allen Brannon currently leads the points standings for the division but is still looking for his first win. Also looking for his first win in the second place position is Tommy Wagner Jr. The current Budweiser Super Late Model points leader Darryl Hills sits in third with one non-I.T.S.I. feature win to his credit followed by defending Super Late Model points champion Deane Guy in fourth, and James Adkins Jr. in fifth. Bo Feathers leads the I.T.S.I. series in wins with two victories out of the three races completed. Rick Eckert is the other I.T.S.I. feature winner.
Two-time Budweiser Super Late Model series winner Rick Jones currently holds the number two spot in the series points standings. He is followed by Wagner, Guy, and Tim Murphy.
In the Bell Motor Company Limited Late Model series, former points champion Paul Cursey currently leads the standings with one win to his credit. Still looking for his first win this year in the second place position is Ronnie Hollidge. Defending points champion Sommey Lacey sits in third with two wins, followed by rookie driver Jamie Lathroum in fourth with four wins, and Johnny Smith in fifth with one win.
Bobby Tipton Jr. currently leads the Coors Light Pure Street Stock points standings with 2 wins to his credit. One time feature winners Jimmy Jesmer and Deuce Wright currently occupy the second and third spots. Still looking for their first wins in fourth and fifth are Craig Tankersley and Jeff Thomas.
In the Four-Cylinder division, Scotty Scott currently leads the point series with three wins to his credit. Jerry Dick, Linda Wright and Billy Crouse follow Scott, still looking for their first feature win. Two-time feature winner Scotty Nelson rounds out the top five.
All of the feature winners so far this year in the Arby's Hobby Stock division currently occupy the top five points positions. Ben Bowie leads the standings with one win to his credit. Three-time feature winner John Sellner is currently second followed by one-time winner Ray Weaver in third, and one-time winners Jeff Helsel in fourth and Chuck Williams infifth.
In the Chesapeake Web Design Bomber series, Kyle Nelson currently leads the points with two wins to his credit. Second, third, and fourth place holders, Jimmy Suite, Eric Hanson, and David Cooper are all still waiting for their first feature win this year. Two-time feature winner Jerry Oliver rounds out the top five in the standings.
