Rain once again forced promoter Pete Cameron to cancel racing action at Potomac Speedway this past Friday night. The end-of-the-year racing schedule has been adjusted to accommodate all the cancellations because of the poor weather conditions.

The end-of-the-year racing schedule has been adjusted to accommodate all the cancellations because of the poor weather conditions. Coming this Friday, August 25th, Potomac will run the 8th event in the ITSI New Millennium Super Late Model Series plus a regular show and Chesapeake Web Design Bombers. Double points for all divisions except Budweiser Late Models. There will be no big wheel races. Action will be sponsored by Coors Light and Bozick Distributors.
On September 1st the Ronnie McBee Memorial and a fabulous fireworks display for the Labor Day weekend will be on the agenda along with a regular show. This is the 9th event in the ITSI series. Also, the July 28th rain make-up event for Bell Motor Company Semi Lates will take place. Action will be sponsored by ITSI. This event has a raindate of September 3rd.
Potomac will take the weekend off on Friday, September 8th, for stock car racing, but will be in full swing Saturday night, September 9th, for the Demolition Derby sponsored by the Silver Hill Lions Club. The first Demo Race will kick off at 7:30. The Lions urge everyone to "Get and Old Car-Be a Derby Driver."
Coming September 15th the 10th and final event in the ITSI series will take place along with a regular show and the make-up event for Mac Tools 4 Cylinders that was rained out July 28th. This action is sponsored by Budweiser and Guy Distributors and Superior Tank. Then on Saturday, September 16th, the Lions Club roar back into town for another Demolition Derby.
September 22nd will find a regular show and the Chesapeake Web Design Bombers on the track. This will be the last point race for all divisions. This race will score double points for the Budweiser Late Models.
The Gardiner Outdoor Products Enduros will go at it for 100 laps on September 29th. Rules are Open to all tracks. Also on the program will be Virginia Sprints, Coors Light Pure Street Stocks, Mac Tools 4 Cylinders and Chesapeake Web Design Bombers.
The final race of the season will kick off on October 13th and 14th, Potomacs annual Southern Maryland Nationals. This is the big one for Pure Streets from all raceways. Also, Semi Lates, 4 Cylinders, bombers, Enduros and Classic Cars from all speedways will compete for extra laps.
