Port Royal, PA Lance Dewease of Fayetteville, PA won the 25 lap Aumiller & Associate Sprint Car feature on Auto Locator Night Wednesday June 16 at Port Royal, PA Speedway. The victory was Dewease first of the year at the Juniata County oval. Starting second, Dewease dominated the event despite several caution periods slowing the field. Lucas Wolfe stopped the Allebach Racing 5 W in turn four on lap nine. Wolfe left the race track with a broken radius rod but returned to restart at the rear. On the restart Vince Snyder of Lewistown, Pa flipped his Jake's Golf Carts no. 15 hard in turn two. Snyder was not injured. During the red flag period Mike Erdley of Herndon was pushed to the pit area with a flat tire. The Lisi Shell driver rejoined the race. The final caution came on lap twenty three when Chad Layton spun the United Trailers car in turn four.
Dewease opened comfortable leads during the green flag periods. Five time winner Mark Smith applied pressure to the Al Hamilton/Manheim Auto Auctions no. 77 during the final stages of the race. Smith seemed to have a shot at Dewease in lapped traffic several times but yellow flags cleared the speedway allowing Dewease clean air and clear race track ahead. Smith's best chance for victory came following a lap twenty three restart. Smith threw a slider move at Dewease entering turn one but could not hold it exiting turn two. Dewease altered his driving line forcing Smith to race either high or low eliminating any further chance of using another slider move. Dewease said in victory lane, " This one is for Butch." (Renninger). " His daughter and my wife are best of friends. My car owner is not here tonight and we won. We've had a couple weeks of bad luck. Maybe we'll have to keep him away more often."
