There was fireworks on the track this week as the racing was snap, crackle, pop exciting. This Saturday in addition to the great racing will be a huge Fireworks display to celebrate and kick off the long Holiday weekend.

Jim Ciampi of Pittston, PA in his 70 Chevy Nova won the most competitive Factory Stock Feature of the Year. After working hard to get up to third, Ciampi was part of a gang that went three wide. It forced him to go backwards and work traffic to get to the front. It took a strong move to get by Mark Corbisiero to take the lead. Ciampi was followed to the line by last week's feature winner, Steve Distler, Mark Corbisiero and Mark Dispirito. The top five were bumper to bumper at the finish.

When Frank Reakes Jr. shows up at Pocono Mountain Speedway he is a force to be reckoned with. Starting the feature in the 7th he was up to second by lap 4 and to the lead on Lap 8 with Bruce Long on his tail. The two put on a show as they battled for the lead. The race was slowed on lap 19 to set up a one-lap shootout. Reakes held his spot and brought the beautiful #14 into the Fairway Chevrolet victory Lane. Long was followed by Rich Spaide and Ron Babula. In a show of great sportsmanship, Bruce Long pulled in and shook hands with the entire Reakes crew and Frank Reakes thanking them for a great Street Stock race.

The Modified show got off to a strong start with Adam Horwith taking the early lead until handing it over to Barry Baran on Lap 4. On the same lap Eric Beers who started 11th made an inside move to go three wide and pick up the 4th spot. The race was slowed by caution on lap 6 when former track champion Mike Hosier was involved in an incident where his #1 Modified Mount actually landed on the front of the Jerry Hildebrand machine. Miraculously both were able to continue without losing a lap. When the race restarted it took Eric Beers and Russ Frantz 3 laps to move into the one and two positions. They stayed that way for the next six laps when Dale Fey and Jerry Hildebrand brought out the caution. Beers and Frantz endured a couple more cautions for minor incidents complicating the road to victory. However the top five ran side-by-side and bumper-to-bumper for the last half of the race. Beers pulled in for his 6th feature win at Pocono Mountain Speedway with Russ Frantz, Ike Iddings, Barry Baran, Mike Adams and last week's feature winner John Markovic in his rear view mirror.

Barry Gommer survived the BIG CRASH that involved Doug Yanders, Barry Christman, John Cool, Larry Fisher, Dean Kline and Todd Cooper on lap 5 to capture his second feature win in a row. The late Models put on a show after the Big Crash as Todd Cooper with a wrinkled right side worked his way from the rear to battle Barry Callavini for a hard fought third place finish. Mike Radocha and Dwayne Mory rounded out the top five.

Bradley Brown of Hunlock Creek, PA went green to checker to capture his first ever career win in the 25 lap Pro Stock Feature. Joe Hoffman started the race 4th and was in 2nd by lap two. Mike Higgins held third for the last 23 laps with Frank Greco and Blaine Barry Barry making a late lap move to get by Jerry Brightaupt.

A huge Fireworks display will be presented at the end of this week's short track-racing program. The on track action starts Saturday night at 6:00 P.M. for the Modifieds, Street Stocks, Late Models, Factory Stocks and Pro Stocks. The action also continues next Sunday as the Microsprints, Go-karts and slingshots invade Pocono Mountain for the Summer Heat Racing Series. The action begins at 2:00 P.M.
