Pocono Mountain Speedway will host a Race of Champions Qualifier Day on Sunday, May 14th. The Race of Champions has long been a household name in Modified racing and over the years has added divisions such as the Late Models, Pro Stocks, Street Stocks and Small Block Modifieds to name to few. By hosting a Race of Champions Qualifier, Pocono Mountain Speedway will be giving the winners of the qualifier divisions an advantage at the Race of Champions to be held at Oswego Speedway in October. The winners of the races at Pocono Mountain Speedway on May 14th will get a guaranteed or preferred starting position at the Race of Champions. Over the years many drivers from the Northeast Pennsylvania track have represented their home track well. The 2000 Race of Champions should be no different. The quality of racing at Pocono Mountain Speedway will prepare the drivers for what they will encounter at this prestigious event. The date of Sunday, May 14th was picked to give drivers from many other areas an opportunity to participate in what should be one of the major events in the early part of the season. Pocono Mountain Speedway (formerly Evergreen Raceway) located just north of Hazleton, PA is set to start the regular season April 2nd. Open Practice will be held on Sunday, March 19th and Sunday, March 26th to give the drivers a chance to prepare for the season ahead. Many Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Thillers and Factory Stocks will be on hand as Pocono Mountain Speedway kicks off the 2000 Season.
