St. Johns PA. . . . . Jim Hauser and Brian Defebo brought the lightening fast modifieds to the green for their 30-lap feature event. Tim Santee in the Prolog Internet Service ride, last weeks hard luck award winner in the triple 15's, rocketed into the lead on lap 2 and seemed to be on his way to his second win of the season. An early race caution on lap 7 sent the cars of Ike Iddings and Russ Frantz to the pit area. On the restart, Santee held off the hard charging DeFebo and John Markovic. Another caution on lap 11 for the spinning car of Dale Fey tightened the field once again. On the restart DeFebo worked his way around Santee until a caution on lap 14 involving Gary Wentz and Mike Adams slowed the field once again. A late race caution for the smoking car of Hauser slowed the field on lap 26. On the restart Markovic trying all that he could to get around DeFebo fell short when the checkered flag flew as DeFebo scored his first victory of the season. Heat race winners were Sean Kehley and Tim Santee. The always hard charging Donny Hartzell led the field from the green until lap four, when current points leader Bruce Long moved into the lead. A hard impact on the front stretch between the 42 of Jen Kutz and Mike Kowalczyk brought out the red flag on lap 9, both drivers were alright but Kutz had to retire from the race. Long who continued to lead the field to the checkered scored his 10th win of the season. Heat race winners were Long and Hartzell. Team cars of Shaun Burd and Mark Corbisiero brought the field to the green. Changing the lead 4 times during the first 7 laps of the12 lap feature, it seemed that the team cars would finish first and second, until Paul Monkoski who was battling for the lead spun coming off turn 4 which brought out the caution. Burd continued to lead, but it would not be an easy victory as current points leader Jim Caimpi was hot on his tail. Burd went on to take his first career win. The heat race was won by Paul Monkoski. Fan favorite Doug Yanders led the always exciting Late Models to the green. Yanders lead the first 4 laps until a wreck entering turn 4 involving Mike Radocha Sr., Barry Callavini, Steve Nederostek, Dean Kline, Jeff Searfoss, Larry Fisher, and Mike Radocha Jr. brought out the caution. On the restart Barry "The Kid" Gommer moved into the lead until the caution flew once again on lap 12 for the 45 of Yanders spinning in turn 3. Gommer maintained the lead on the restart with hard charging Barry Callavini hot on his rear bumper. After several laps Callavini's car (which was involved in an early race incident) seemed to fade away as Gommer went on to take the win. Heat race winners were Callavini and Gommer. Mike Higgins who started on the outside pole lead the first 11 laps, Higgins seemed to be well on his way to his first win of the season. The caution flew on lap 11 for the spinning car of Bob Nenstiel. Which slowed the field. On the restart Higgins lead the next 5 laps until hard charger Bradley Brown moved into the lead. Joe Solt (2 time Pro Stock Champ) making his first appearance at the speedway this season put on a late race challenge for the lead, but fell short at the line as Brown went on to take the win. Heat race winners were Frank Greco and Bob Nenstiel.
