St. Johns, PA . . . . . . . The Easter Bunny showed up and the forecasted rain showers held out as Pocono Mountain Speedway gets its second week of racing into the books. The Easter Bunny had presents for all the kids as drivers Barry Callavini, Bruce Long, Barry Gommer and Eileen Weaver helped hand out all the goodies. The Factory Stocks ran green to checker as Jim Ciampi of Exeter, PA held on to record his first feature win of the year. Andy Zvorsky, winner on opening day, tried but could not get around the determined Ciampi. Bruce Long, of Hunlock Creek, notched his second win of the year. Bruce who started in the rear of the field worked his way through the pack using both the inside and outside groove and by Lap 6 of the 20 lap feature, Long took the lead and never looked back. Ron Babula and Rich Spaide Jr. made Bruce Long work for the win as they were in close pursuit. The Late Models had action from the green flag to the checker. Winner Barry Gommer spun on Lap 3 and was forced to mount his charge from the rear. Larry Fisher started on the pole and led until Barry Gommer finally got under him in Turn 1with 4 laps to go. Coming with Gommer was Doug Yanders and Nate Correll. Look for more great racing actions from the Late Models as the field continues to grow and these full fender cars use the entire track to showcase their skills. Frank Greco of Milnesville, PA held off Shawn Gallucci for the Pro Stock Feature Win. Frank Greco, Shawn Gallucci and Mike Higgins put a show on the fans as they battled side by side; switching positions many times going for the elusive first win of the year. Shawn Gallucci while running second actually passed Greco several times coming past the start finish line but was the victim of untimely caution flags. Every time Gallucci passed Greco the caution would fly and he was forced back to second and try again. The final lap had a side-by-side finish with Greco nudging out the win. Russ Frantz of Coplay, PA made up for his opening night second place finish by holding off Gary Wentz, Eric Beers, Chuck Schartzer and C.J. Jones for the win. Mike Adams brought the field to the green flag until Ike Iddings quickly moved into to the lead for a couple of laps until the young tiger Brian DeFebo passed him. DeFebo looked like he had the car to beat until he was involved in an accident in turn two. By lap 16 Frantz who started in the 9th staring position moved into the lead. Beers, Schartzer and Markovic who started 14th, 13th and 12th respectively, worked their way into contention behind Frantz and Wentz and these five sliced and diced with each other. With four to go Markovic spun going into one setting up a dash to the finish. Frantz did a great job holding off Gary Wentz who made every move in his book of tricks but could not get by the veteran while having to worry about week one feature winner Eric Beers behind him. C.J. Jones had a great run to finish 5th after having to start the race from the scratch position. See all the same divisions and great action next Sunday, April 30th at 2:00 P.M.
