Jefferson, GA -- Ronnie Sanders made his inaugural 2003 return to Georgia's Fastest Half Mile asphalt track on Saturday night in winning fashion. Sanders, driving his Dodge Intrepid in the Super Late Model division, held off veterans like Bill Plemons, Jr. who finished second, Jerry "The Coach" Glanville who came home third, Scot Smith, and Travis Price, who rounded out the top five. The 50 lap Super Late Model show was slowed two times by the caution flag for the biggest incident that occurred on lap 18 when Smith, and Joe Click spun coming off of turn two. Jerry Glanville received minor damage in the incident as well, but brought the car to the attention of his crew, for minor alterations.
Jimmy Price collected his first win of the year in the Late Model division, in a race that provided plenty excitement from the drop of the green flag until the checkered. Price in his #41 unsponsored Chevrolet started in the eleventh position, and battled his way to the front, which he claimed the lead on lap 22 and never looked back as Lee Langford and Casey Green was on his back bumper all night. Langford finished second, as Green, Daniel Martin, and Kevin Perry rounded out the top five.
In the Sportsman division, David Murphy in the #35, kept up with tradition and collected his first victory of the young 2003 season. The "Pendergrass Flash" started on the pole and never looked back leading all 30 laps around the half mile facility. Greg Ausburn, Sam Roberts, Wes Whitfield, and Terry Dearing rounded out the top five.
Keith Roberts collected his first win of the season in the Modified Mini-Stock holding off hard chargers like Joel Anderson, Tommy Harris, and Billy Amos. Chuck Cooper collected his second victory of the season in the Mini-Stock division holding off Tracy Satterfield, Chuck Waldrop, Greg Swink, and Jody Denton.
