Spring Run, PA_ "These (Strictly Stock) races are not demo derbies, and we are going to penalize anyone who appears to deliberately hit another driver's car," race director John Winsett warned before Saturday night's racing began with full fields in all classes.

Chambersburg area drivers won all three strictly stock events and McClure racer Nathan Fisher won his second feature of the season in the special Legends Cars race.

The Strictly Stocks at Path Valley were formerly called junkyard cars and a few of the many rookie drivers managed, despite the warning from Winsett and use of both the black and yellow flags, to turn the infield into a junkyard. At one point seven of the 24 six-cylinders that started the feature were sitting in the infield.

Dave Kitzmiller of Roxbury won his second race ever in the V-8 feature, with a skilful dash amid lapped car traffic to lead every lap. "I want to thank my dad, Wayne, for the work he does on the car," Kitzmiller said after his first win this season. "This sure is fun and it's real racing I can afford." The front five finishers in the V-8 class of Strictly Stocks were Kitzmiller, Joe Daywalt, Dustin Brown, Jerry Fleming, Dave Dunkle, and Tony Verno and Fleming and Daywalt won the heats.

Steve Frazier of Chambersburg passed Dave Ricker in turn two on lap 18 to win the six-cylinder feature. Frazier later said it was his first race ever and 'real hard work.' Ricker had led every lap, lapping cars in his #99 after lap seven, and Frazier followed a length behind until he got the chance to take the lead as Ricker spun 360 degrees but kept going at the end of the race. Second went to Crystal Miller of Bedford, third to Jeff Swope, fourth to Rob Keller and fifth to Rick Rosenberry. Shane Ege, Swope and Keller won the heats.

Todd Heckman of Chambersburg, another rookie driver, won the four-cylinder feature in the final 30 yards by going to the outside coming out of turn four on the final lap to pass previous race winner Denny Scofield at the line by about six feet. Tim Riley, Johnny Runk and Chris Chamberlain filled out the front five and the heat winners were Runk, Lee Young and Heckman.

The Legends Cars, with veteran drivers that included all of last year's Dirt Track National Champions, put on an exhibit of racing the way it's supposed to be for the Strictly Stock drivers. Fisher took the lead from Denny Rothermel on lap three with a dive to the inside turn three and then survived three caution flag restarts for his second win. Rothermel, Ray Swank, Bryan Swartz, and Josh Morrow completed the front five and Bob Murray and Fisher won the heats.

About 35 youngsters won the Candy Scramble on the front stretch at intermission, with a special candy hunt at the concession stand for those four years old and younger.

The low budget Strictly Stocks race again at Path Valley Sept. 6 with gates open at 5 p.m. and warm-ups by 6:30.
