Path Valley reschedules Pepsi race to Oct. 4.
Spring Run, PA_ The $500 Pepsi Night V-8 Street Stock Special at the Path Valley Speedway Park has been rescheduled to Oct. 4 as an added feature along with the rain makeup points races for the regular Path Valley divisions.
The PA 305 Sprints, along with the 600 Sprints, 270 Sprints, Legends Cars, V-8 Street Stocks, and four-cylinder thunder cars will all race on Oct. 4, but the modified mini stocks are off to avoid conflict with a big money race at another track. No decision has been yet made on making up the rained out Sept. 27 points race date.
The decision to cancel the racing Friday night, Sept. 27, does not affect the $1,000-to-win Four-Cylinder Shootout Saturday, Sept. 28. A full month of racing remains at Path Valley, with the final Saturday Night Finale for karts and quads scheduled Oct. 28.
The remnants of Hurricane Isidore not only soaked the track but also knocked out the track's telephone lines Friday, and Promoter Ken Geesey said overworked crews had promised to repair phone service by nightfall.
Additional October events at Path Valley include the Legends Day and Racers Swap Meet and Flea Market Oct. 5 and an AMA Motorcycle and Quads rain makeup that evening. Oct. 12 is the final Junk Car race and the final AMA motorcycle race is Oct. 19 with the Kart Season Finale Oct. 26.
Tickets are available at the track for the annual awards banquet Nov. 23 at the Pleasant Hall Fire Company. Doors open at 3 p.m. for the kart and quad awards, followed by the dinner with doors opening at 5 p.m. for sprint and stock car teams and the stock car and sprint awards following the catered feast.
The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike.
