Path Valley Friday rainout leaves three events to race.
Spring Run, PA_ Tropical Storm Kyle has forced a complete rainout of the final Friday night races at the Path Valley Speedway Park Oct. 11, and that leaves only three racing events and a banquet on the 2002 schedule.
The final Friday night race cannot be rescheduled, according to senior race director John Winsett. A decision was to be made by noon Saturday on the season's final Junkyard Race, scheduled for a gate opening at 5 p.m. Oct. 12. The Junk Cars have raced monthly at Path Valley in four-cylinder, six-cylinder and V-8 classes, growing to some 70 entries and attracting big Saturday night crowds.
Oct. 19 is the final AMA Region 6 race for motorcycles and four-wheelers at Path Valley with gates open at 5 p.m.
Oct. 26 is a special Saturday Night Finale for the Path Valley karts and gates will open at 4 p.m. for that special race for fun and money.
Fewer than 50 tickets remain available at the track for the annual awards banquet Nov. 23 at the Pleasant Hall Fire Company. Doors open at 3 p.m. for the kart and quad awards, followed by the dinner, with doors opening at 5 p.m. for sprint and stock car teams and the stock car and sprint awards following the catered feast by Dodies.
The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike. The new phone number at the track for promoter Ken Geesey is 717-349-7111.
