Oswego, NY . . . The steel gates at the "Steel Palace" will swing open this Saturday, May 4th as Oswego Speedway will hold an open practice session for the supermodifieds, limited supers and super stocks. The pit gate will open at noon and practice will be from 1 to 5 pm.

Jeff Holbrook and the JWJ Racing Team will field no less than three cars this season and is looking forward to the tune and test session. According to Holbrook, "We just completed a brand new car for Joe Gosek and now we're trying to get my car and Dave Trytek's super race ready. Crew chief John Colloca has logged a lot of hours this winter and were optimistic that no major changes will be necessary when we hit the pavement this Saturday."

Oswego promoter Romey Caruso commented, "The four hour practice session is a great opportunity for competitors in all three of our weekly divisions to shake down their cars before the official start of the season on Saturday, May 11th. It also gives the Speedway an opportunity to see what needs to be fixed or replaced. Thankfully it was a very mild winter so I don't anticipate too many problems with the facility or equipment."

At the conclusion of the practice session, competitors, crew members, and track employees will be treated to a hospitality buffet sponsored by Garafolo's House of Sausage. Joe Garafolo stated, "We want to get the 2002 season off on the right foot with good food, drinks and some comradery. We'll be serving tossed salad, baked ziti and of course our famous sausage along with a variety of beverages.

"Many of the people who patronize Oswego Speedway are also our store customers and we really appreciate their business. We'll also be opening our new fast food restaurant directly across the street from our store later this spring so our friends from the racing fraternity will be able to enjoy Garafolo's sausage sandwiches anytime. We thoroughly enjoy our relationship with Oswego Speedway."

Grandstand admission for the open practice session at Oswego Speedway on Saturday, May 4th is FREE while pit admission is $20.00 for both license and non-license members. The infield concession stand along with a limited number of main concession windows will be open throughout the afternoon.
