Oswego Speedway forced to cancel tonight's races.
Oswego, NY . . . Persistent showers coupled with deteriorating conditions for spectator parking have forced cancellation of Saturday night's racing activities at Oswego Speedway.
According to Oswego Promoter, Romey Caruso, "We waited until 12 noon before canceling tonight's program hoping that the forecast would change for the better. But, the National Weather Service is calling for an 80% chance of precipitation through 10 pm tonight, and with all of the rain that we've already received in the past few weeks, parking in the field would be a mess. Because the weather is so uncertain, we felt it was in the best interest of the fans and competitors to cancel early allowing them to make other plans and not make a futile trip to the Speedway."
All of tonight's activities will move to Saturday, June 29th. Wendy's Restaurants will join Hilton Garden Inn as the race co-sponsor and all of the Family Night activities will take place.
As a reminder, children 12 and under will get in for just $.50 and the first 300 kids through the main gate will receive a free stop watch. A Kids Big Wheel Race will be held at 6 pm immediately before the heat races. Entry forms for the big wheel race can be down loaded from the Internet or picked up at the Speedway Box Office. Registration will be at 5:30 pm just outside the main pit gate.
After the heat races, all of the drivers in the pit area will bring their cars to the front straightaway for a special autograph session. Kids and their parents will be allowed to come down onto the track from the grandstand to get autographs from their favorite drivers.
And if that's not enough, at the end of the evening there will be a big demolition derby along the front stretch. Last year, there were so many entrants that the front straight was roped off into two sections and two demolition derbies were run simultaneously.
Saturday night, June 29th will be a great night of entertainment for the entire family. For ticket information contact the Speedway office weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm at (315) 342-0646 or log on to www.oswegospeedway.com.
