Joe Gosek Sets Record

On Saturday July 12, 1997 Joe Gosek of Oswego, NY set what is believed to be a worlds record for a 5/8 mile paved oval track. During time trials for the ISMA Supermodified event at Flemington, NJ Gosek set fast time turning a record setting 14.77 sec for an average speed of 152.34 MPH. In the 100 lap ISMA feature event Gosek started from the sixth position, due the ISMA handicap procedure, and quickly worked his way to the front to become the first multi-feature winner for the ISMA Supermodifies at Flemington. Gary Morton finshed second followed by Russ Wood, Joey Payne and Mike Ordway.
