Good Turn Out for Open House Has Everyone Excited About ReOpening

ONA, WV -- The sounds of race cars roaring through the valley was a sound many have waited over a year to hear and on Saturday, July 10th it was music to race fans ears.

Over 15 cars welcomed fans as they arrived at Ona Raceway for the first open practice session this past Saturday. Unfortunately fans weren't able to get much of a look at the cars due to several rain storms coming through the area and limiting the track time for the drivers who were able to get their cars ready for this first practice session.

"I think we had a great turn out considering that most cars have been sitting in the garages for two years and the fact that the rain storms just wouldn't stay away," said Ona Raceway's new promoter, Langley Austin.

"Our Modified, Classic Car and Hobby Stock divisions are looking good, plus I'm getting more and more Legends and Late Models everyday. The U-Car and Any Car divisions are coming together very good considering this area has never seen anything like it before."

Ona Raceway will hold another "Pre-Season Thunder" open practice session this Saturday, July 17th from 2pm to dark, gates will open at noon. Again fans are invited to come out and enjoy the practice sessions from the grandstands for FREE. Pit Admission will be $10.00 per person.

"Pre-Season Thunder" will continue Monday, July 19th with the first day of a two day car show at the Huntington Mall. Cars will be on display inside the Mall on Monday and Tuesday for fans to come check out the cars and get drivers autographs.

Following the car show Thursday, July 22nd the roar of engines will again thunder through the valley as the cars take to the track for the final on paractice session from 3pm to dark. This practice session will also serve as a Media Day with drivers on hand to do interviews with all media. Also FREE Admission in the grandstands.

Then Racing Action will heat up on "Graphics One POLE Night" on Friday, July 23rd with practice from 5pm to 7pm with Pole Qualifying for all divisions with $375.00 in Pole Awards up for grabs. All fans will be admitted FREE for this Qualifying session as they get ready for the July 24th season opener.

Saturday, July 24th will bring RACING action back to the tri-state with the "Keaton's Collision Center 300" and the track will debut it's new, low $5.00 general admission for the grandstands. Racing on this night will feature OUTLAW Modifieds, XTREME Late Models, Hobby Stocks, Classic Cars, Legends, U-Car and Any Car. Plus during pre-race activities the track will host Bike Races for Kids of all ages and Street Car Circle Drag Races will also be on tap for all licensed drivers.
