New Egypt, NJ (July 1) -- It was ho-ho-ho all the way to the bank for Frenchtown, NJ's Billy Pauch Saturday night, as Pauch won both the held-over and regularly scheduled Modified features on Advantage Financial's Christmas In July Night at New Egypt Speedway.

"When you've got a good car and the crew does their job, it makes my job easier," said Pauch, who collected $5,050 for his double score. Pauch's incredible win tear includes six victories in his last seven starts at the Central Jersey raceway.

In the race rescheduled from May 13, Rick Grosso appeared to have his first Modified win within his grasp when he suddenly pulled off the track with 5 laps to go. Both Pauch and Kenny Brightbill had their hands full working traffic as Brightbill took command upon Grosso's departure. But Pauch made an inside run with two to go good for the lead and win. Brightbill was second with Tom Carberry, Keith Hoffman and Gary Butler behind. In the Modified nightcap, Willie Osmun took the lead in the early going and stayed out front until the halfway signal, when Pauch's inside run in the fourth turn put him in charge for good. Brightbill again had to settle for the bridesmaid slot, beating Butler, Osmun and Steve Moss to the finish line.

Ringoes, NJ's Ryan Godown also kept his streak alive, posting his third straight Sportsman feature win of the season, his fourth of the year. Bryant Brown was the early leader while Godown advanced his way to the front. At the halfway flags, Godown used the outside lane to take command, and led Larry Lippincott, Tom Eppolite, J.C. Mears and rookie champ Dave Hoffman to the checker.

Williamstown, NJ's Pat "Cadillac" Conaway captured his second Street Stock checker in an exciting 15-lap main event. Conaway moved in front early and held off the late race challenge of George Quinlan for the win. Behind the top two at the finish were Bill Gerber, Bryan Reed and Al Cheney III.

Winners of the OfficeMates 5 of Englewood Cliffs Lightning Lap Awards for fastest lap in a feature event were Pauch (Mods, 15.862), Brown (Sportsman, 16.905) and Quinlan (Street Stock, 17.597).

Advantage Financial and Santa Claus gave away over $5,000 in fabulous prizes to fans who donated to the U.S. Marines' Toys for Tots drive. The crowd responded by topping all previous USMC New Jersey fundraisers, collecting more than 2,500 toys and $3,017 in cash for the worthy cause.

This Saturday, July 8, Mid-State Communications will present Grand Slam Little League Night, with Little Leaguers in uniform, ages 7-12, admitted free. Modifieds, Sportsman and Street Stock are on the race card, and a special Grand Slam challenge will pit the drivers in a home run derby. First pitch is at 6:30 pm. Gates open at 4. Adult admission is $12, children 7-12 are $4, and kids 6 and under are free. For more information, call the speedway at (609) 758-1900.
