New Egypt, NJ (June 17) -- While a visit by Mother Nature forced an hour and a half rain delay, the brief shower couldn't stop Frenchtown, NJ's Billy Pauch from capturing his fourth Modified win of the season at New Egypt Speedway Saturday night.

"Rick Grosso raced me tough before, so I knew it wouldn't be easy," said Pauch, who bested Grosso to score his second win of the weekend on Saturday.

In the caution-plagued 30-lap Modified main, Pauch dodged a bunch of bullets to power out front on lap 4. Rebounding from an early skirmish, Rick Grosso Jr. advanced to second and began to chase down Pauch. Pauch was not to be denied, as he opened up a commanding lead on the field and survived several restarts to post number four on the year. Grosso put in a fine performance for second, with Kenny Brightbill returning from a lap 4 accident to finish third, Rocco Infante fourth and Keith Hoffman fifth.

Ringoes, NJ's Ryan Godown posted his second trip to victory lane in the 20-lap Sportsman main event.

"We've had a streak of bad luck lately," Godown remarked, after claiming his first checker since opening night. Godown came from 14th to take second with 9 laps in the books, then walked off with the win with an inside pass on lap 12. Mike Lyons followed Godown to the stripe with Joe Infante, Matt Papiez and Rich Scagliotta in tow.

The OfficeMates 5 of Englewood Cliffs Lightning Lap Award for fastest feature lap went to Pauch (14.878 on lap 23) and Godown (16.260 on lap 18).

Due to the rain delay, the heldover Modified feature from May 13 will be an added present on the July 1 Christmas in July card. The postponed Street Stock feature will be run later in the month. Lucky dads won a Trek mountain bike from Snap-On Tools dealer Brian Casey and a "King for a Day" portable toilet rental from Mr. Bob of Southampton on Dad's Appreciation Night.

This coming Saturday, June 24, it's Reclamation Night with Twin 20-lap features for the Modifieds along with Sportsman and Street Stock racing. Gates open at 4 p.m., with the first heat scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Adult admission is $14, children 7-12 are $5 and kids 6 and under are free.
