Indianapolis, Ind. (October 15, 2003) - Young Michael Ruttkamp will make his American Speed Association (ASA) debut this Sunday (October 19) in the season finale with the powerful SS Racing team at the BFGoodrich Traction T/A Tires 300 at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tenn. The 15-year old Ruttkamp, of Wilton, Conn., will have support from Tom Raper RV & ASI Limited, who have signed on to sponsor the No. 40 Chevrolet for the event.
Michael's racing career began at the age of six. He has won three WKA National Karting championships, two WKA Grand National Championships and has had hundreds of feature wins. Michael then progressed to sprint cars at the age of 11 and fulltime stock car racing at age 14, where he won three features and Rookie of the Year honors. Michael looks to build on this event in an attempt to potentially compete on a fulltime basis in 2004.
"It's an honor to have the opportunity to represent Tom Raper RVs, who has such a strong presence in motorsports and is a proud sponsor of Dale Earnhardt, Inc.," said Ruttkamp. "I'm grateful Ken Smith has given me the chance to drive for his SS Racing Team, which is one of the top teams in ASA. It has also been great to test and work with a championship driver like Butch Miller."
Ruttkamp is managed by Motorsports Management International, which represents some of the top talent in motorsports today, including defending Winston Cup Champion Tony Stewart.
"We are excited to partner with team owner Ken Smith of SS Racing and Michael as he makes his debut in Nashville," said John Wissler, Marketing Director for Tom Raper RV. "The partnership gives us the opportunity to reach many of our customers."
