Wisconsins Rich Loch Goes "All In"
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (March 13, 2007) -- The American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment has signed 34-year-old Rich Loch from Muskego, Wisconsin as participant in the ASA Educational Series and a contender for the inaugural championship.
Loch has been racing competitively for 23 years, starting in go-Karts at age 11. He moved to IMCA Modifieds in 1990 at age 17. Rich has recorded 20 feature event wins, and one top-five finish on the former ASA National Tour. He was the 1992 IMCA points champion at Madison International Speedway while piloting a Modified. Loch's home track is the Slinger Speedway (WI).
Rich is thrilled about the change of pace for 2007, explaining, "I am excited about the Tour because of the quality of the people involved: the best racers in the Midwest, the right people running the series, and a schedule that doesn't wear you out. I think the mix of tracks on the schedule is positive. You are not running the same track two or three times a year in the Tour. I think it levels the playing field a little. You will have guys with a ton of laps at one place and none at some others; it should make for some great racing."
"It's great to see Rich getting back on the road with us. His car owner (Jim Lagina) has always been very good to me and I am ultimately pleased that they are supporting the Midwest Tour," ASAMT VP Steve Einhaus said, "Rich is also supporting our Educational Series and has stepped up to help a group of kids have the opportunity to win scholarships through his team and that's wonderful."
Loch is employed as manager at his family's two restaurants: Ricardo's Pizza in Greendale and Riverfront Pizzeria in downtown Milwaukee. When he is not at work or at the racetrack, Rich is a true Wisconsinite, enjoying hobbies of snowmobiling, ice fishing, motorcycling, boating, and using anything else with a motor.
Rich and his fiance Jill Timms will be married August 25, 2007. The whole Loch-Lagina operation is a family affair. "My parents are very involved in the racing program and attend every event. My dad is the primary owner of our team along with sponsor Jim Lagina," Rich explained. "We've had some success at small bullring type tracks but I'm just looking forward to all the races," he concluded.
Loch will be making his debut at the ASA Midwest Tour inaugural season opener at Elko Speedway April 28, 2007.
