American Speed Association Acquaints Fans With Midwest Tour's Mueller
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (March 5, 2007) -- The American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment has signed 37-year-old Brad "JJ" Mueller of Random Lake, Wisconsin, as a championship contender for the inaugural 2007 season.
There isn't much Brad hasn't tried when it comes to racing. He is perhaps best known for his three straight track championships at the Slinger Speedway (2003-2005) but cites his three most impressive seasons from 1999-2001 where he dabbled in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Mueller started racing go-karts in 1980, and shifted gears to drag racing from 1985-1988. In 1988 he started racing on the Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County (WI) Fairgrounds. Brad has also competed occasionally in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.
Mueller started the 2006 season at the Slinger Speedway and picked up a Spring victory. However, a hard hit to the wall on lap 41 of the feature May 28 caused him to park the car for the year. Brad raced the full season on the clay at Plymouth and finished second in Grand National standings. Between competing at Plymouth and the Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway he won nine out of twenty feature events.
"What I like about the Tour is we are not committed to every Saturday or Sunday night. The option to visit more tracks levels the playing field, and the guys in charge are really focused on putting some great racing together - not like some that only care about the holy dollar. They are racers knowing what racers need and want - exactly what our sport needs," Mueller commented.
"Brad is the type of guy that can turn your bad day into a good one. He has a great attitude and he is genuinely a funny guy so it's a lot of fun having him around. He's had great success at Slinger Speedway and I feel that if you can master that place, you can be successful anywhere you go. We certainly look forward to his representation as a Touring Star because he is a fan favorite," ASAMT VP Steve Einhaus concluded.
Brad is employed at the family business, Mueller's Sales and Service where he sells cars, trucks, and trailers. Many of the trailers hauling ASAMT cars in 2007 were purchased from Mueller's Sales and Service.
Outside of racing, Brad enjoys cruising on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, snowmobiling, playing billiards, and spending time with his five-year-old children Julia and Nicolas.
Mueller added that he is most looking forward to the July 20 ASAMT event at the Madison International Speedway, laughing, "What I am looking forward to most is making a last lap pass on my buddy Nate Haseleu since I gave him the Slinger Nationals a few years back--just kidding!"
Mueller will be making his debut at the ASA Midwest Tour inaugural season opener at Elko Speedway April 28, 2007. He is a member of the elite Touring Stars and is sure to be a fan favorite on and off the track.
