Pendleton, IN (August 1, 2002) - The ASA Racing Series and 51SportsRacing.com have teamed up and announced that beginning on Thursday, August 1, fans will be afforded the opportunity to help select the Most Popular Driver in ASA.

The 51SportsRacing.com website, having linked directly to asaracing.com, will feature a list of 20 drivers from the current season. Viewers will be able to choose one driver from the list and will be able to vote only once per day per computer. Voting will end at midnight on October 6, following the 2002 ASA Racing Series season finale at Winchester (IN) Speedway.

"It's not a race win and is much less the championship, but it's a pretty cool honor to be called the Most Popular Driver," said Bob Dillner, 51 Sports Racing.com founder. "Fans are what stirs the sport and they come to the tracks every week to watch these short track stars. To be called the Most Popular Driver as voted on by the fans has got to be important as it would be something to put on the resume in this sponsor driven industry."

51SportsRacing.com is a short track racing website that has considerable ASA coverage. Dillner is the broadcast anchor of ASA telecasts on TNN and has more than 15 years experience as a motorsports journalist.

"It's an excellent way to determine popularity of the various drivers," said Mike Miller, ASA Media Director. "One of the greatest honors, especially in motorsports, is being a popular competitor. Just ask Bill Elliot or even Sarah Fisher for that matter. I think this will be a lot of fun to watch develop and appreciate the efforts of the 51 Sports staff and their efforts."

The winning driver will receive a $500 cash prize and a basic website design from 51 Sports Racing. Total value is of the prize package is around $5,000.
