Pablo, MT: If you missed out on the 2000 Jamboree out at the Mission Valley Speedway last Saturday, don't fret. The Season Opener is coming up next Saturday, May 13th!
More than 30 cars and drivers tested their skills during the Jamboree on May 6th, getting a feel for how their cars are going to handle at next weekends double points opener! Drivers raced for trophies and minimal "show up" points only, leaving the money that was raised during the Jamboree for pit improvements.
Trophy sponsor of the evening was Stageline Pizza of Ronan and Polson, with trophy presentations being given by Bonnie Shepard, daughter of Wade and Tracy Shepard of Charlo. Highlight of Ms. Shepard's night had to be presenting her father Wade, #4 with the Hobby Stock Main Event trophy!
Three drivers that hold track records for the 3/8 mile track, timed in during the Jamboree with the fast time of the night in each of the following classes, Don Staggs, Formula-Indy #1, Chuck Morigeau, Bomber #49 and Tracy Burland, Super Stock #7. Burland's record is held in the Street Stock class, however, he has moved up to Supers for the 2000 season.
All the drivers that showed Saturday can be commended for giving the fans an exhilarating show of speed and skill. Six trophy dashes, five heats, and six main events were run, showing just a taste of what you can expect next weekend with a full class of cars during Mission Valley Speedways 2000 Season Opener!
Time trials begin at 6:00 pm with racing at 7:00 pm. On tap will be the Super Stocks, the Pepsi/Pizza Hut Street Stocks, the MGD/Light Hobby Stocks, the Budweiser Compacts, Bombers, the Alamon/Telco Formula-Indy's and the dual-controlled Krusers.
