Des Moines, Iowa (March 15, 2001) -- SouthWest MotorSports and driver Johnny Spaw announced today that Medicap Pharmacies, Inc. will become an associate sponsor for the remainder of the 2001 ASA ACDelco Series season. The new sponsor will join McLeod USA Pu blishing as primary associate sponsors on the number 38 entry.
"'We'll Always Make Time for You' is the slogan for Medicap and I hope we can make quick time for Medicap around the track," said SouthWest MotorSports owner John Lundberg. "Having a national company like Medicap join with our other sponsor, McLeod USA Pub lishing really gives us two great companies to work with this season."
Medicap Pharmacies, Inc. is a national franchising corporation which operates 194 locations, open or under development, in 37 states. Medicap Pharmacies, Inc. provides turnkey support for pharmacist franchisees, including national buying power, managed car e contracting, operation, accounting and national advertising and marketing services.
"We hope to do several promotions for Medicap franchises as the season goes on and to work with the corporate office on a marketing program using the number 38 car and Johnny," said Lundburg.
Spaw, a six-time Iowa State Amateur Motocross Champion and six-time Hawkeye Downs Speedway Champion (1992-1996, 1998), has made both events in 2001 and sits ninth in the rookie point standings and 20th overall. He was 13th in the season opening race at St. Augustine and finished 35th at Irwindale Speedway after being involved in an accident.
Spaw and the rest of the ASA ACDelco Series will return to action on Friday .and Saturday, March 23-24, at USA International Speedway for the Florida .200. Activities begin on Friday with three 50-min. practice sessions, .followed by ASA qualifications at 5 p m.(all times Eastern). A 50-lap .qualifier race is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, activities begin at .7 p.m. with ASA's exclusive on-track autograph session, followed by driver .introductions at 8:30 p.m. The 200-lap event will take the green flag at 9 p.m. (Eastern) and will be televised live on TNN Sports.
