Gainesville, GA - Piloting the No. 44 Monster.com/WorldBestBuy.com Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Mark E. Dismore steered clear of trouble and finished 15th in the "Discount Auto Parts 300 presented by Jani-King" ASA ACDelco Series race held at Lanier National Speedway Saturday evening.
Dismore qualified his machine 23rd fastest in time trials. With only the top-20 locking in positions on time, Dismore would take a provisional and start 21st in the race.
With 17 cautions for 101 laps, Dismore was lucky to survive and make it through all the carnage. "I missed a bunch of wrecks," Dismore said. "I'm happy about that. I'm disappointed that run of green was so long because we couldn't come in and change tires. That's where we got hurt or else we would've been able to keep up with the leaders."
"I'm continuing to learn each race," Dismore explained. "I learned a lot about restarts tonight. I need to work on passing to the outside, but everything will come with time. The communication is getting better between Howie (Lettow, crew chief) and myself.
"We'll take a top-15 finish after all the wrecks we saw tonight," Randy Herzog, co-owner of Herzog Motorsports said. "Mark's still learning to get a handle on these cars, but he's doing a great job. It was classic short track racing tonight and we survived."
The 15th place finish moves Dismore up to second in the Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie-of-the-Year standings. "We just want consistent finishes," Lettow said. "If we can keep gathering these top-15's, everything will fall into place."
The ASA ACDelco Series has a weekend off before heading to the famed Hickory Motor Speedway for the "North Carolina 300 presented by Jani-King." The 300-lap event is scheduled to kick off at 1PM EST with a LIVE broadcast from TNN Sports.
