SUSSEX, Wisc. - As he did for the ASA Series' Louisville event, Mark E. Dismore will rely on his computer game to gain experience at the I-70 Speedway in preparation for this weekend's Missouri 300. While practice makes perfect, Dismore is just looking to stay consistent and capture his second top-5 finish of the year.
"I told Howie (Lettow, crew chief) I would do more laps on the computer to prepare myself," Dismore said. "It worked in Louisville." Dismore qualified his Monster.com/WorldBestBuy.com Chevrolet Monte Carlo 11th for the Louisville event and ran in the top-10 for most of the race. A last lap spin cost him several positions in the finishing order. Dismore finished in 11th place.
"I've heard I-70 (Speedway) is pretty wild and kind of like Nashville (Speedway USA), but with more banking," Dismore said. "I did well at Nashville, so I'm looking for a good run." Dismore scored his career best finish at the Tennessee facility with a fifth place finish.
"We need a top-5 to bounce back from Cedar Rapids," Dismore continues. "We need to keep focused and gain some points." Dismore and the Herzog Motorsports team are currently 15th in points and fourth in the Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year points battle.
Dismore is also counting on lots of encouragement coming from the grandstands. His team owners, the Herzogs, are from nearby St. Joseph. They plan on over 1000 employees, customers and guests to be attending this race. "It will be great to have all the support there to cheer me on," Dismore said. "I hope we're able to put on a good show and pull off a great finish for them."
