ISMA Supermodifieds to Make First Appearance at Mansfield; Two-Day Show on Tap with 100-Lap Championship Feature on Saturday

The ISMA Lucas Oil-Helping Hands Series will make its debut at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway on August 13 and 14. The series will run a 40-lap feature on Friday and a 100-lap feature on Saturday. The two-day open wheel extravaganza will have a purse approaching $90,000.

Mansfield, OH: The International Supermodied Association will be making its first appearance at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway on Friday August 13 and Saturday August 14. The Supermodifieds will run a 40-lap preliminary feature on Friday night and then compete in the 100-lap championship feature on Saturday.

The HOSS 410 Sprints will also be on hand for a 30-lap feature on Friday night, while the track's regular 305 Sprint cars will round out the program on Saturday. In all, there will be 200 laps of open wheel feature racing over the course of two days at the ultra-fast banked half-mile.

The top Supermodified drivers throughout the Midwest and Northeast are expected to compete for a purse exceeding $65,000. With the sprint car programs on both days as well, the total payout for the weekend approaches $90,000. The ISMA drivers just completed one of their biggest events of the season at nearby Sandusky Speedway, making the back-to-back programs in the state of Ohio two of the most lucrative on the schedule.

"Anyone that has grown up around racing in Ohio has been around Supermodifieds at one time or another," said Mansfield Motorsports Speedway General Manager Jerry Smith. "The big block engines, the wide tires, the wings that move to give the drivers more downforce in the turns and less drag down the straightaways are truly a sight to see. And anyone interested in the ingenuity of motorsports will like Supermodifieds, because virtually every one of them is totally unique.

"I have seen some of the success of other big Supermodified events around the state, and we have had a tremendous response to our Midwest Supermodified Association events here," Smith continued. "With the response we have received so far, there is no reason we can't build this event into one of the crown jewels of Supermodified racing, along with the Hy-miler Nationals and the Oswego Classic."

Reserved tickets are available for the Mansfield ISMA Nationals by calling the track office at (419) 524-0183. On race weekend, the track ticket office can be contacted at (419) 525-RACE (7223). Two-day passes are available for $45, while a two-day pass for children 5-13 are just $8. General admission tickets for each day are $25, while reserved seats are $30 (children 5-13 are $5 and $10, respectively. Pit passes are $35 for each day. Mansfield Motorsports Speedway also welcomes campers, and will offer free camping for this year's edition of the event.
