Tony Urdiales to run a partial 2005 ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts season.

The Buckeye State of Ohio has shown vast amounts of interest in the 2005 ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts. One more driver has thrown their racing hat into the proverbial ring for the 2005 season as Tony Urdiales has announced plans to run a partial schedule with the ASA Late Model Series in 2005.

"We're going to branch out and try competing at the ASA Late Model Series level at five scheduled events." Said Urdiales as he discussed his plans for the 2005 season. "I plan to run Barberton (OH) Speedway as well, it's my home track, but I'm not going to limit myself to just running there. I'd like to try Mansfield (OH) Motorsports Speedway, Midvale (OH) Speedway, and a few other local tracks. I especially want to go to Mansfield so we can get some seat time for the ASA Late Model Show scheduled there." Continued the Akron, Ohio pilot. Mansfield (OH) Motorsports Speedway will be the site of race number seven on the 2005 ASA Late Model schedule.

Over an 11-year career, Urdiales has called the unique paper-clip shaped 1/4 mile paved oval of Barberton (OH) Speedway home. During the 2004 season, Tony won the Late Model Sportsmen Division Rookie of the Year award at Barberton while finishing fifth in the final points chase.

During his partial 2005 campaign with the ASA Late Model Series, Urdiales will be piloting a Predator Chassis Chevrolet Monte Carlo carrying sponsorship from Cavanaugh Building Corporation and Hercules Engine Corporation.
