LAKELAND, Fla. (March 6, 2000) -- The American Speed Association (ASA) has teamed up with the Lakeland Ledger when the ASA ACDelco Series visits Lakeland, Fla., for the season-opening BFGoodrich Tires 200 at USA International Speedway. The Ledger will become the "Official News Information Source" of the ASA ACDelco Series event.

"With the expanded growth in the popularity of motorsports, especially here in the south, what better way to serve our readers than to cover some of the greatest racing around in the ASA ACDelco Series," said The Ledger's Steve Schmidt. "Our readers will be able to keep up-to-date on all the news happening in and around the track, with the quality of writing they have come to expect from The Ledger."

The Ledger will carry ASA news and features leading up to the race weekend of March 26 and will be on site covering all the action, from qualifying and qualifying race results all the way through the checkered flag of the BFGoodrich Tires 200. All weekend long, race fans can pick up the Ledger for the latest ASA news surrounding the event.

"The Ledger is a great source of information for the people in the Lakeland and surrounding areas, which tells us they are key in getting the word out," said ASA Promotions Director Eric Bunn. "We are real excited to work with all the writers and people from The Ledger. They are sure to provide great coverage of the BFGoodrich Tires 200 and will help fans see some behind-the-scenes of ASA racing."

With ASA adopting a new, two-day format at its races in 2000, practice, qualifying and a 50-lap qualifying race will take place on Saturday, March 25. The season's first race is set to go green at noon (Eastern) on Sunday, March 26. The event will be telecast live by TNN Sports. Tickets for the race are $20 and $25, and are available by calling ASA toll-free at 1-888-ASA-1020.
