Ganus, Lyons, VanZiles, & Glass at the Zoo

Jeff Ganus from Contantine, charged from his 6th place starting spot to record his first ever Super Late Model feature win, Saturday Night at Kalamazoo Speedway. Shawn McGlaughlin spun between turns 1 & 2 on the first lap, with a good portion of the field stacking up behind him. Andy Bozell suffered extensive damage and had to pit for repairs, and came back out to salvage a 15th place finish. Phil Massuch finised in the runner up spot, as his car continues to be one of the fastest cars each week. Rick Sexton finished 3rd from his 13th place starting spot, with Jerry Drake and Dan McEndarfer finishing 4th and 5th. Jamie Gritter captured a career best 6th place finish, with point leader Curt Spalding finishing in 7th, after starting 19th. John Chapman, Jeff Vochaska, and Greg Himes rounded out the top 10 spots. Heat race winners were Steve Needles, McEndarfer, and Massuch, while Brandon Lyons claimed the last chance race.

Brandon Lyons passed Brian Bergakker on the outside of the last lap, to make it 4 for 4 in the Limited Late Models. Lyons had his work cut out for him, as he sliced his way through the field from his 11th starting spot. Mike Brooks and Kyle VanSparrentak were both eliminated in a turn 3 mishap on lap 24. Following Bergakker were Rich Hardy in 3rd, Luke Krick in 4th, and and Jon Orr in 5th place. Completing the top 10 spots were Jacob Hopwood, Jim Abbott, Mickey Cornwell, John Hudson, and Jason Simpson. Randy Day''''s evening ended abruptly as he hit the turn 3 wall, fipping on his side, and sliding to a stop in turn 3. The Sutton''''s Bay driver was able to walk away unscathed. Heat race winners went to Tom Wright, Hudson, and Hopwood, while Bob Town won the B Feature.

Bryan VanZile passed early race leader Todd Foote, to go on to record his second Sport Sock Feature of the season. Foote wound up in 2nd, followed by Dale Mcghan, Ben Raber, and John Termeer. Rounding out the top 10 spots were Courtny Weston, Rich Mersereau, Cory Kruzel, BJ Orr, and Trent Hellinga. VanZile and Termeer collected heat wins as well.

In the Pure Stocks, Martin''s Butch Glass recorded his 3rd feature win of the season. Lloyd Brooks finished in 2nd place, followed by Jim Wheaton, Greg Haynes, and Brad Shellenbarger for the top 5 spots. Bob Livingston finished 6th after starting dead last, with Andy Bozell Jr. in 7th, followed by Jim Belka, Harold Lock, and Ashley Bresset. Shellenbarger and Glass recrded heat wins.

Racing action will continue at Kalamazoo Speedway this Saturday, May 14th, with a full 4 in 1 Nascar Dodge Weekly Series event. All students 17 years and younger will again get in for just $2, while adults will be $10. Pit Gates open at 3:00, practice will start at 5:00, and racing will begin at 7:00 sharp.
