MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Ricky Johnson battled a couple of extremes as he placed his Nationwide Auction Systems/WorldBestBuy.com Chevrolet 13th following the ASA ACDelco Series' Memphis 200. One extreme was the heat, the other was horsepower.

"It was a long, hot day," Johnson said as he climbed from his car. High temperatures, combined with high humidity, made for a sweltering day for everyone involved, especially the drivers.

"It was an up and down day," Johnson continued. "We adjusted the car, but we could never get it just right. We suspect we had a fuel pump problem. The engine was low on pressure and it really hurt us with the power on the straightaways. I could catch a car in the corners, but I couldn't pull off a pass going down the straights."

Johnson started the Memphis 200 in the 21st starting position, after taking a provisional. Johnson maintains ninth in the ASA points standings, heading into the final three events of the season.

"Rollie (Christman, crew chief), Jim Randerson (car builder) and Kevin (Streich, car chief) are all working hard to make this Nationwide Auction Systems/WorldBestBuy.com Chevrolet go faster," Johnson said. "We're testing this week at Indianapolis Raceway Park and Winchester Speedway to help us get prepared for our returns to those tracks. I'm anxious to go to the last three races."

The ASA ACDelco Series has a much-needed week off before returning to the Indianapolis Raceway Park on September 23. The ASA 200 will begin at 8:00 p.m. CST and will be telecast on a two-hour delay at 10:00 p.m. CST on TNN Sports.
