Mooresville, NC - After an impressive qualifying effort to start the A.P. Plasman Group Chevrolet in the 3rd starting position, Johnny Sauter had high hopes going into the Tires.com300 at Irwindale Speedway in California.

Sauter began the race with an excellent car and quickly settled in to a rhythm. By lap 90, he had passed veteran Butch Miller for 2nd position and was steadily gaining on the race leader.

"We had a great car and were getting in position to make a run on the leader when we lost the right front," Johnny commented. "I think we had the car to beat here at Irwindale."

On lap 96, the right front tire of the A.P. Performance Racing Chevrolet blew out and Sauter headed straight for the turn 4 wall. After the crash, the A.P. team attempted to repair the damage, but it was too extensive, causing them to finish a disappointing 37th.

The American Speed Association travels back to Florida for the third race of the season. USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida will host the Florida 200 on Saturday, March 24th. The race will be televised live on TNN at 9pm EST.
