(Elk Mound, WI) "The car was hauling last night," comments Jimmy Mars the morning after his UDTRA Green Valley Speedway win in Glencoe, AL. Mars' bested the 24-car field in his Parkerstores Total Hose and Service Monte Carlo to pick up his third UDTRA victory of the season and 7th overall feature win in 2001.

Jimmy Mars unloaded a brand new MasterSbilt Monte Carlo when the team arrived at Green Valley Speedway for the two feature events at the 3/8-mile oval. Jimmy rolled out towards the end of the qualifying order and was one of seven drivers to break the old track record set by Ronnie Johnson back in 1996. Jimmy's two laps capped him off with the 6th fastest time out of 54 cars.

"I should have combined both of my laps to make one good lap," said Jimmy after his qualifying run. "We are very happy with the car in qualifying and we will give it another shot in the heat race."

Jimmy's qualifying run started him on the outside of the front row in the second heat race. Jimmy did not waste any time and swept the 10-lap JE Pistons heat race to start on the outside pole of the 50-lap $7,000 to win feature event.

Jimmy's front row position in the feature event proved successfully as in his heat race as he managed an excellent start and led flag to flag to pick up his third UDTRA win of the season. "We started on the outside pole and got a run on Eckert (Rick Eckert) and had a good car that adapted to all the track surface conditions," states Mars the following morning after his win.

Jimmy followed up his Friday night victory with a 9th place finish on Saturday night in the 50-lap $10,000 to win feature event at Green Valley Speedway.

Jimmy's victory and 9th place finish at Green Valley Speedway moved the Wisconsin native into 8th place in the UDTRA championship points chase. Jimmy will be in UDTRA this Tuesday (October 2) at Atomic Motor Speedway, and then will compete in the three day, MACS, STARS, and UDTRA "Big Kahuna " events at the Rock/Allegany County Speedway this weekend (October 4-6).

To date this season, Jimmy Mars has seven feature wins in 52 feature starts with 19 top-5 and 29 top-10 finishes with 2 pole awards.
