(May 2) - Officials for the International Pro Stock Challenge (IPSC) are pleased to announce the Motor Mart Rookie of the Year Award as part of a comprehensive support package provided the racing series for the 2000 season by the Yarmouth, Nova Scotia-based General Motors dealership.
"The folks at Motor Mart have been longtime supporters of motorsports," said Joan Roue. "We are fortunate they have chosen the IPSC as the focus for their 2000 involvement. The addition of the Motor Mart Rookie of the Year Award to our series should help attract new racers to the series. Winning that title is a valued addition to any racers resume."
With the series in it's third season, and starting to gain momentum with a driver base, the competition for the Motor Mart Rookie of the Year Award could prove interesting, to say the least.
Drivers who did not qualify for any more than three of the six 1999 IPSC races are eligible to register for the rookie program. Points will be accumulated for the six best finishes posted by the contenders over the 11-race 2000 season. Additional criteria will see bonus points awarded, i.e. demeanor of the driver while representing the IPSC, on and off track. The Motor Mart Rookie of the Year will receive an awards package including cash from Motor Mart.
Motor Mart has been named the Official Vehicle Supplier of the IPSC. The IPSC vehicles, the Official Pace Car - a 2000 Daytona 500 Special Edition Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, and a 2000 Chevrolet Ton Pickup Truck, have both been supplied by Motor Mart. Motor Mart also returns as sponsor of the Motor Mart Dash for Cash and Motor Mart Heat Races, in which the finishing orders set the field for the feature events.
Motor Mart is a full-line, full-service General Motors dealership with stores in Yarmouth and Shelburne, Nova Scotia.
