Mike Hadley, Jr. grew up and went to school just a few blocks from the Indianapolis Speedrome. In 2001 he was crowned the champion of the Speedrome Bandolero series and Friday night he became one of the youngest feature winners in the history of Speedrome stock car racing. Hadley was sitting second in the All-Phase Landscaping SuperModified feature when leader Rodney Smith dropped out with ten laps left in the race. The 16 year-old Hadley held off Cynthia Sizemore for most of the run with Spike Brickley, Ray Evert and Rob McCalister, Sr. right behind. Max Olmsted was fastest in qualifyiing but was out early with contact. Heat wins were scored by Sizemore and Bob Higgins. Points leaders Johnny and Charlie Hargraves and Billy George were sixth, seventh and eighth.

A pair of features challenged the Chuck's Race Car Parts Outlaw Stocks Friday night with Corey Turner tops in the 25-lap oval chase and Jimmy Kirby crowned king of the 15-lap Figure-8. Turner was chased to the left-turn only checkers by Jack Smith, Kirby, Brian Luttrell and rookie Chris Stewart. Kirby's left-right excursion saw Smith again the bridesmaid and rookie Gary Mathes right behind with Ricky Schaeffer III and newbie Dusty Hunt. Turner was also tops in qualifying and took a heat as did Al Fullenkamp. Points leader Kerry Wright broke in his qualifier and was a scratch for the oval main with a sixth in the Figure-8.

Dustin "Scrapper" Sapp proved his nickname true as he charged through the field to win the 20-Lap Sunshine Cafe Roadrunner main event. Sapp took control from Nick Moore on lap 16 with teammate Bill McLain snatching second two laps later. Moore held on for third ahead of Doug Kegerreis and Scott Camhi. Moore and Scott Tabor grabbed heat wins as the division headed into tomorrow night's 100-lap marathon.

Another first-time winner in the Speedrome Hornet division as Michael Gross took the crossed checkers ahead of Danny Carson and early leader Howard Wessel. Scott Camhi and Tim Smith I followed for top five spots with heat wins going to Tim Smith II and Rob Hurt. It was Hurt's fourth consecutive heat win trophy plus his triumph in last week's feature. Points leader Michael George was sixth in the main with points challenger Bobby Keith out of action after the heat races.

Jerry Green once again proved that AARP eligibility is no hindrance to a true racer. Green led flag-to-flag in the 15-Lap Bomber Figure-8 feature holding off Jeff Smith and points leader Barry Tabor at the checkers. Scott Cothron and Danny French rounded out the top five with Herb Carson taking the qualifying heat.
