Saturday, June 16 at the Indianapolis Speedrome. - It was not a good night to be top dog at the Indianapolis Speedrome Saturday. Bryant's 76 Racing Fuels Late Models points leader Bruce Tunny ran into mechanical problems early that slowed him all evening. Second in points, Jack Dossey Jr., tangled in the evening opening trophy dash knocking him out of the night with damage to the car and driver. The Late Model Figure-8 feature went to Fairland, Indiana's Bill Tunny Jr. after a tough duel with past champion Wayne Arnold. The Late Model Oval main was snagged by Bobby Whitaker after rookie Casey White ran into handling problems about mid-race. The Chuck's Race Car Parts Stock class main went to Joe Sheedy with points leaders Jack Smith and Larry Hahn knocked out early with problems. Sunshine Cafe Roadrunner features went to Skip Reddy and Scott Camhi with points leaders Jeff Smith and Jeff Johnson having problems in the preliminaries.
