OSWEGO, NY - Over $105,000 will be up for grabs in this years Sunoco Race of Champions Weekend at Oswego Speedway. The event is set to take place this Friday and Saturday, October 5th and 6th at Oswego Speedway.

Registration and inspection will get underway on Friday at 12:00 p.m. Practice for all classes will get underway at 4:30 p.m. with full racing cards for the Mini Stocks and IMCA Modifieds getting the green flag at 7:15 p.m. Street Stock qualifying will also take place on Friday evening.

Saturday's activities will get underway early with pit gates opening at 8:45 a.m. and the first heat set for 11:30 a.m. The Sportsman, Late Models, NORA Limited Super Modifieds and Modifieds will run full programs. The Street Stock division will have last chance races along with their 75 lap feature events.

Purses have been increased in the Mini Stock, Late Model and Street Stock portions of the program. The Modified, Sportsman and Limited Super purses will remain the same as the 2000 program. The IMCA Modified payout will be the best paid out in the northeast during the 2001 season. All purses are paid in cash. Modified and Sportsman payouts will see an increase for the 2002 R.o.C Weekend.

Last year George Kent held off Ted Christopher for his third Sunoco Race of Champions Modified 200 victory. He also notched the Sunoco Race of Champions Modified Tour Title that day. His total earnings for the day exceeded $23,000. Again this years winner will earn a minimum of $10,000 prior to additional lap monies.

Once again Marilyn Toal has done a fantastic job in posting lap money for this years 200. Each lap will pay a minimum of $50 with lap 68 paying $1,000 in memory of Alex Friesen.
