LAS VEGAS - The IMCA dirt spectacular scheduled for Saturday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's half-mile dirt oval has been postponed due to the installation of a modern irrigation system and a new racing surface. The new date has not been determined.

The improvements include adding more clay and organic materials to the half-mile dirt oval.

"We took advantage of the three-week break and anticipated the improvements to be done by Saturday to run the event this weekend," said Joey Mancari, manager of short-track events. "With the new surface, the track will hold more moisture making the track sticky. A sticky speedway usually creates more side-by-side racing."

The next IMCA show is scheduled for September 16. Gates open at 6 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and military and $2 for children 6-12. Children under five are free.

The half-mile dirt oval at LVMS will host the Pennzoil World of Outlaws October 31 and November 1.
