2nd Annual National Open at Hardeeville Motor Speedway

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (September 1, 2001) - The 2nd annual National Open at the Hardeeville Motor Speedway saw great racing action with plenty of racecars in the pits. Chris Beach of Hardeeville, S.C. collected the $2,500 first prize for winning the 150 lap Late Model Championship. Mark Terry of Rincon, Ga. won the Mini Stock feature and retained his Mini Stock division track championship. Ellis Huggins of Richmond Hill, Ga. also collected the Street Stock feature and track championship. Bob Gossett of Hilton Head, S.C. claimed the Xtreme Stock Car win and teammate Corey Fletcher of Bloomingdale, Ga. won the Legends Cars Semi-Pro feature. Kevin O'Brien of Burton, S.C. picked up his first victory of the year in the Legends Cars Pro/Masters division.

Next weekend, the Allison Legacy Cars will return to the Hardeeville Motor Speedway with Twin 35 lap features. The other divisions of racing featured will be the O.C. Welch Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Late Models, Legends Cars, Mini Stocks, Street Stocks, and Xtreme Stock Cars.

Grandstands open at 5:00 p.m. each Saturday. The green flag waves at 7:05 p.m. for heat races, followed by the feature events. Hardeeville Motor Speedway is located three miles southeast of I-95 on Highway 17. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, with reduced rates for seniors, military and children.
