HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (May 4, 2001) - The Hardeeville Motor Speedway continues to be the track for legends, albeit Legends Cars. After hosting the Legends Cars World Finals in March, the speedway plans to host the Jet Food Stores Legends Cars Masters Classic on Saturday, May 26. The event, which is only open to INEX-registered drivers 40 years of age and older, will pay $500 to the winner.
The announcement for the Masters Classic was made this past Tuesday, and the track has already received entries from across the Carolinas and Georgia. The event, which will include time trials, two heat races of 15 laps each, a 25-lap B-Main Event, is capped off by a 40-lap Feature event, with the victor receiving $500 in prize money. All drivers that enter must be 40 years of age and older, which will make it interesting to see how the "older" crowd dices it up against each other.
After hosting the World Finals in March and a July National Legends Cars event on the schedule, the track is becoming a favorite for Legends Cars competitors. Hardeeville Motor Speedway offers great racing excitement for drivers and fans. Its 70-feet wide straightaways and high-banked corners make it possible for three to four-wide racing.
The Jet Food Stores Legends Cars Masters Classic will be held in conjunction with Hardeeville Motor Speedway's regularly scheduled Saturday night racing activities, which includes the O.C. Welch Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Open Wheel Modifieds and Bandolero Cars.
Grandstands open at 5:00 p.m. every Saturday evening. The first green flag waves at 5:30 p.m. for the qualifying races, which will determine the starting line-up for the feature events. Feature races are set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Hardeeville Motor Speedway is located three miles southeast of I-95 on Highway 17. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, with reduced rates for seniors, military and children. Children under five are admitted free. Information is available at www.hardeevillespeedway.com or by calling (843) 784-RACE. Check out where the Lowcountry and Coastal Empire come to race.
