PENDLETON, Ind. (July 16, 2001)- Greg Williams Racing and Raben Tire have announced the two will team up for a one-race sponsorship for the Haubstadt, Indiana driver in the upcoming, July 21st Tecumseh 300 at Salem Speedway in Salem, Indiana. The sponsors hip comes at a perfect time for both parties, as Williams will be visiting his "home track" on the 2001 ASA ACDelco Series schedule, and Raben Tire will hit one of their strongest markets, southern Indiana and the Kentucky area.
"I am just really excited that Raben Tire is stepping up to do this deal with us," said the 40-year-old Williams. "You know, it is just the right place to partner up. Salem is the closest track for my team to our home base, so it works out well. And we ran
really well here last year, started in the top 10 and finished 17th, so we are really excited about our opportunities. I can't thank the guys from Raben Tire enough."
Raben Tire is one of the leading tire businesses in Mid-American, selling more tires in that region than any other tire company. Henry "Butch" Raben opened the first Raben Tire in 1952 and worked off of the principal of providing the very best tire and ser vice to each and every one of his customers, a motto which still serves as the company's mission statement today. Raben Tires owns and operates 31 stores over a five state area, including Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri and Arkansas.
"We are happy to support Greg for the Salem event, especially for him being a local driver around here," said Raben Tire Advertising/Marketing Director Gary Rice. "We would like to see him do really good and we know he runs well there. We have a couple bus es of people heading up to the race, so we are really looking forward to the weekend."
Raben Tire is a leading supplier of the BFGoodrich brand of tires, the Official Tire of the American Speed Association. Raben Tire Company serves and services tires for passenger and light trucks, commercial vehicles, OTR and industrial equipment, and farm
and utility equipment, as well as motorcycles, ATVs and other recreational vehicles. In addition to tires, Raben Tire Company offers ASE certified auto services including alignment, oil changes and battery service and replacement.
Williams is in his second year of full-time racing on the ASA ACDelco Series. In his first campaign, Williams finished 29th in points after making 11 starts and leading for 29 laps. In 2001, Williams sits 21st in the point standings with 10 starts, six lap s led and five top-20 finishes, including a season best 18th at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in April. His career best start and finish came at Salem Speedway in 2000, where he qualified eighth and finished 17th.
"I am really happy to be carrying Raben Tire on our car for this event and I am looking forward to meeting all of the people from Raben Tire that will be at Salem," said Williams. "It will be a big boost for my team to actually have a sponsor on the hood. We have worked really hard all year long with very little money, so hopefully we can show what this team is capable of with some dollars in our hand."
