GREENSBORO, N.C. (April 18, 2004) -- Donnie Moran took his second Stacker2 Xtreme DirtCar Series victory of the season when he won the Tar Heel 50 at 311 Speedway.

The 2004 season marks the first for Goodyear as the exclusive tire supplier for the Xtreme organization. Goodyear supplied the Eagle X200 and Eagle X300 for the event. It was a record-setting day for the Series. Earl Pearson Jr. set a track record for the Xtreme cars in qualifying when he hustled around the half-mile oval in 16.732 seconds, averaging 107.57 mph. Brian Birkhofer finished second in the 50-lap race, followed by Jimmy Mars, Ray Cook and Darren Miller. NASCAR star Bill Elliott, who is a part owner of Cook's team, finished 13th. The race was co-sanctioned by the Southern Xtreme DirtCar Series. There were 42 entries. Don O'Neal won the Gemini Auto Care Centers Hard Charger Award by finishing eighth after starting 25th.

Moran's victory left him tied with Jimmy Mars for the lead in the championship standings with 845 each. Birkhofer is third with 749, Pearson is next with 738 and Matt Miller stands fifth with 725.

A crew from SPEED Channel taped the race for broadcast. The event is scheduled for broadcast at 3 p.m., EST, April 24.
