Zobrist wins UMP feature at Fredericktown.
FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- (May 31, 2002) Chad Zobrist got the jump on David Jumper at the start of the 25-lap UMP Late Model feature Friday night at the Fredericktown Raceway and made it hold up for his first victory of the season at the facility. Jumper finished in second place with third going to Ken Rumble, fourth to Mike Hammerle and fifth to Ronnie Jarrells. They were followed by John Bohn, Brian Stephens, Charlie Savage, John Pitts and Rodney Pense.
Jumper won the first heat with Zobrist second and Mike Abney third. Rumble won the second heat with Jarrells second and Dean Motsinger third. Jumper won the dash with Zobrist second and Abney third.
Kasey Nations won his third Pro Street triple crown in a row at the Fredericktown Raceway after holding off the charge of Brad Mashek in the feature. Randy Kueker was third with Rob Fortier fourth, Billy Craig fifth, Rodney Stevens sixth and James Miller seventh. Nations won both the regular heat race and the inverted heat race.
In the Pure Street class, Darrell Jarrett won his first-ever triple crown. In the feature Jarrett was first with Wesley McDowell second, Pete Koenig (driving the #903 car) was third, Billy Kelley fourth and Russell Mathews fifth. They were followed by Leonard Betch, Lenny Terrell, Ron London, Shawnda Bader and J.J. Johnson. Kelley won the first heat with Betch second and Terrell third. Jarrett won the second heat with Bader second and Johnson third. Jarrett won the dash with Kelley second and Betch third.
In the RAMS Mini Stock class, Jathon Cruse just kept on rolling, picking up yet another triple crown night in the class. In the feature Cruse was the winner with Marty Boyer second, Dave "the Wolf" Wofford third, Keith Buckley fourth and Jeremy Greenwalt fifth.
Cruse won the first heat with Buckley second and Boyer third. Cruse then won the inverted heat race with Wofford second and Greenwalt third. Racing at the Fredericktown Raceway will continue this Friday night. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7:30. For more information phone (573) 78DRIVE.
