Fontaine and the Discount Auto Parts/Suntrust #46 Take on Orlando

Chris Fontaine powered the Discount Auto Parts/Suntrust #46 to an 11th place finish in the FASCAR Late Model event at Orlando Speedworld last Friday night.

From the start of practice Chris had problems with the car setup. The #46 Monte Carlo is a heavier car than he is used to running at Orlando, and the Late Models he was competing against have more horsepower.

But Chris and the CJF Racing team assisted by Kevin Ingram and Dean Harrison kept trying different shock/spring combinations and tire pressures to get the car to handle right.

Chris started the heat race in the sixth position, and got the jump on the fifth place car to take the position by turn one. He began extending his lead for the next lap, until the car started drifting out in the corners.

On lap number five, the car got by Chris after some good side by side racing in turns one and two. Another car drafted to get by also.

For the the 25-lap Super Late Model Feature event, Chris and the #46 were lined up in 14th position of 16 starters including some stiff competition.

Adjustments to the setup on the #46 before the start of the race made the car handle a lot better at the start, and by lap number four, Chris had passed several cars to move up.Several laps later, the first caution came out.

On the restart, Chris was up to 13th.Another caution came out after three laps for another wreck, and on the restart Chris was up to 11th.

Two laps later, Chris took the 10th place, before a series of cautions came out separated by only a couple laps.

After the final restart,Chris held the 10th spot for five laps before a car got under him in turns three and four as he drifted out a little. Chris tried to run him down and retake the position, but ran out of laps.
