GREENVILLE, SC (March 22, 2001)- The drivers of Greenville Pickens Speedway's Late Model feature division will tangle for an early season points lead in Saturday's Upper State 100 lap Late Model feature event. The race will be the first serious test of Late Model superiority for the 2001 season, and should be a good barometer as to who will contend for the divisional track and regional championship titles. Opening night winner Pete Silva of Asheville will go for his second win of the season, with a host of Upstate drivers eager to claim their first season win in the Upper State 100 classic, including 2000 champion Gene Morgan of Travelers Rest, Liberty's Kenneth Headen, Simpsonville's David Roberts, and Greenville's Donnie Bishop.

In addition to the 100 lap feature race, additional racing action is scheduled for the Super Stock, Street Stock, and Charger divisions. General admission gates open at 4pm, with the first race set for 8pm. Adult general admission to this special event will be $15.00, with children under 12 admitted free with a paying adult. The Greenville Pickens Speedway is located at the intersection of Hwys. 123 and 124 between Greenville and Easley. For more information, call the speedway office at (864)269-0852, or visit their website at www.greenvillepickens.com.
