Indianapolis, IN (February 21, 2003) -- Officials from the American Speed Association are proud to announce that Fergus Falls Raceway has become an ASA Racing Member Track in 2003. The ASA Member Track Program enters its third year of existence, as Fergus Falls joins I-94 Raceway in Sauk Centre (MN) and Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids (IA).
Beginning in 2000, the ASA Racing community attracted a lot of headlines in the motorsports industry with the introduction of a sealed, fuel-injected V8 engine in America's Premier Short Track Series. Additionally, the series moved to a radial tire produced by BFGoodrich Tires.
One year later, ASA introduced the ASA Racing Member Track Program with its pilot track being one of the most popular tracks on the nationally touring series schedule, Hawkeye Downs Speedway.
After successful seasons at Hawkeye Downs Speedway and I-94 Raceway, Fergus Falls (MN) Raceway becomes the third track to join the ASA Racing Member Track Program.
Fergus Falls Raceway is a .375-mile, high-banked, asphalt oval that hosts racing on Friday nights. The track has six exciting division competing on a weekly basis: late models, modifieds, legends, super stocks, thunder cars and UCARs.
TNT Properties, owned by Tim and Ted Olson, recently purchased Fergus Falls Raceway. The pair also own I-94 Raceway, which became an ASA Member Track in 2002. The Olsons have a long history in motorsports dating back to the 1950s when Floyd, the family patriarch, started his racing career. Sons Tim and Ted followed in his racing footsteps. Tim has an extensive racing background, racing late models professionally throughout the country.
The ASA Member Track Program is being introduced to selected weekly short track venues in an effort to integrate many of the policies, principles, procedures and components that have made ASA the premier short track series in America. The ASA Member Track Program features a comprehensive, but graduating agenda beginning with a licensing agreement.
Membership benefits include each racer receiving a subscription to Inside ASA Racing, discounts to ASA Racing Series events and souvenirs along with other benefits. Additionally, each member track has information featured in every issue of Inside ASA Racing and on asaracing.com in the member track section.
As part of the member track program, participating tracks will see a significant increase in their season points fund, thanks in part to $10,000 contribution by the American Speed Association.
